Good Grief Center

Good Grief Center for Bereavement Support

The Good Grief Center for Bereavement Support is the region’s first and only comprehensive center dedicated exclusively to bereavement education, resources, and referrals for all ages. The Good Grief Center merged with Ursuline Support Services in 2011, becoming Ursuline’s newest service and furthering Ursuline’s commitment to supporting those vulnerable in our communities through life’s transitions.

The premise of the Good Grief Center is to be a comprehensive bereavement resource and referral center that builds a more compassionate community through grief awareness, education, support and hope; creating a safe place where all who have experience the pain of death may come to work through loss and learn to manage grief.

Bereavement Education
The cornerstone of the Good Grief Center is grief education, where staff and trained volunteers serve as educators, listeners, advocates and coaches while offering empathetic understanding to grieving individuals and families.

Please call 412-224-4700 to inquire about the available educational opportunities.

Referral Network
Referrals to additional area bereavement support groups, organizations and grief therapists are also available by calling 412-224-4700.

Compassionate Connections
Compassionate Connections is a fee-based membership program for businesses such as funeral homes, hospitals, hospices, long-term care facilities and medical practitioners who come into immediate contact with newly bereaved families. The Good Grief Center will call grieving families within weeks of the death offering comfort, education and support. By placing such calls to families on behalf of Compassionate Connections members, those businesses are able to show their ongoing concern and support for the families they serve. Call 412-224-4700 for more information.

Grief in the Workplace
Grieving can place a heavy burden of stress on a person — affecting  his or her ability to think and work, which in turn affects co-workers and colleagues. Studies show 1 in 4 employees is grieving at any given time. By not properly addressing grief in the workplace, your organization may be losing revenue and productivity. The Good Grief Center offers customized educational programs to address the needs and culture of your organization. Call 412-224-4700 for more information.
